Waxwing: family BombycillidaeIf you are looking for information on waxwings, or family Bombycillidae, following are some good links!
Waxwings are omnivorous, eating insects, berries, and
fruit. They are known to overeat and become intoxicated on fermented berries.
They are the only known crested birds of mainly brown color. Waxwings have
red-colored wax on the tips of the wing, yellow tailfeathers, and a black mask.
There are three species in the family,
Cedar, Bohemian, and Japanese. Waxwings do not sing, but call in a low reedy
whistle. Waxwings of the three species live throughout the globe.
